Christmas!

Merry Christmas! This year I finally got to see me whole family for the holidays! We flew (shudder) to Kansas the week before Christmas and stayed with my Grandmother. Over 20 Flynns got together for the weekend. We went to the symphony, shopped for xmas, ate a lot and played with the 2 adorable new-comers to the Flynn clan - well I pretty much commandeered the babies for myself. This little one is Victoria - her mother is in the black behind me, Nell at Grandma's.
Here is my best ever gingerbread house - yeah, I made that, I even piped the tiny icicles and snowflakes. It took forever, but I felt like a giant badass when it was done. I also knitted a blanket over Christmas, so I think I filled my Martha Stewart quota for the month. I bought Nicole the best/worst gift in history - Just Dance for Wii - my whole body now hurts. It's completely stupid and totally addictive, and I'm awesome at it. I got ballet lessons from my mom for christmas, so I'm now quite literally a dancing fool.

I can't wait for New Years, it's my LA anniversary, I have a very sparkly outfit for our night on the town, and becs will be back next week
This coming year is going to be very busy - graduating then going back to school, MB short series, I'm finally going to Vegas (a bunch), Becs is finally going to be 21, moving and moving Nicole - ugh

What I'm thankful for

So it's a few weeks late - I never seem to have time to sit and type for anything other than class anymore!

I'm thankful for

My family - if you know my family you know why - I have the most awesome parents ever made

Rebecca - seriously the greatest friend - all we do is eat and watch movies and talk - I counted recently, I believe we've seen about 15 movies in the last 3 months. Having a girl friend who dates girls and can give me the guys perspective on everything is shockingly helpful. I really get two best friends, the posh blue blood London lady who loves to shop, knows everyone and will only eat at the best places, and the mega-lesbian who is really a dude, always mistaken for a guy and could beat the shit out of most football players to hang out with, watch action movies and threaten guys who try to pick me up at bars that I don't like. PERFECTION

Kangaroommate - my roommate is better than yours - trust me, we are so awesome it hurts. I am so lucky that I have her - we're wonder twins. We danced on our couch like maniacs on Tuesday and got uber-drunk watching all 3 twilights yesterday - and she makes me bacon. SO HAPPY

Harry Potter - don't laugh, this guy got me through more than most

New Classes - ok not so much thankful as hopeful - but you get the point

Robert - how you still manage to talk to me everyday about all my girly messes and drama I will never know. you rock and I'm so proud of you!! congratulations

L - for staying anyways

My DVR - this sounds obnoxious, but I'm serious. TV is pathetically important to me, and I'm only home at the most random times - after a crazy sleep-deprived week, having 9 episodes of Bones and Boardwalk Empire waiting is like Heaven

This year has been amazing - this next one is about to get a whole lot crazier!

so much trouble, so little time

I have the greatest roommate EVER - not only is she a terrible influence and got me drunk, she made me bacon for breakfast last week. Becs keeps saying I found my twin and moved her in. Nic, Megan Ramsey and I moved Becs, Erik, and Amanda into their new apartment last week. Rebecca now lives 8 blocks from me = SO MUCH AWESOME TROUBLE. This is us before Eric's birthday - which turned into a very interesting night

This would be during the interesting night - I jumped on Rebecca - love her so much! Rebecca + Nicole + Megan Ramsey = Trouble. They made me drink - MADE me - not my fault. We had a blast. We danced in that backyard til 3:30 taking pictures all night. Evident by the next picture...

I love my L.A. friends! New job, new friends, new rommie - so much trouble, so little time.

End of summer

So summer officially ends in a few days - so here's my wonderful summer - and my attempt to upload photos (lets see if I can do this)

Carson's Wedding! I had such an amazing time at the wedding - 4 days on the Queen Mary with a bunch of people I've known since I was a kid! The wonderful thing about Nashville is that I can show up (as a date) to a wedding and run into 4 people I've know for more than a decade! Here are a few pictures of me at the wedding with my wonderful date Laws (he was nice enough to bend down to dance with me since he's more than a foot taller than I am) Hannah took 524 pictures of the wedding weekend - I'm in about 40, but I picked 2 for this - most of of me dancing and are not super flattering, the rest are of us joking around or being too inappropriate for blog posting.

Earlier in the summer Alex came to see me. This is not the greatest picture of him or Ryan - but I'm the keeper of the ducktape - I'm the only one who wasn't drinking and they kept loosing it.

I worked on a short film this summer called "Members Only" - it was accepted into the Sundance Short Film Fest and was then accepted onto IMDB - here I am on set fixing up Faye!

Such a good summer - I can't wait to start fall in Nashville with Robert, Allison, Laws and all my FRA friends!

Woah - where did that come from?

In the last 4 weeks I went from bitching about how bored I was to finding 2 separate groups of people to hang out with and being stupidly busy. A few months ago I got an iphone and the lowest amount of minutes per month for it is 450 - I have almost 1200 rollover minutes from not using all my minutes.
This month I went over my limit and into my rollover minutes by 200, with 6 days left to go in the cycle. If anyone actually reads this, they may find this silly to care about - but for me - this means I found my place in LA

The Most Beautiful Thing I've Ever Heard

I was watching Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day this morning and heard the best line I've ever heard in a film. It's a cute movie about one day for a very poor woman in England just as the war is breaking out. She's had a very bad day - just been kicked out of her apartment with no clothes or effects and has not eating in several days. During an air raid drill a young woman Miss Pettigrew has just met that morning and is trying to help with her seriously bad taste in men is scared and asks her if she's ever been in love. She says
'He died in the mud in France. He was a steady man, a good man - the type you would call boring. But he smiled when he saw me and we could have built a life on that.'

I could type forever about how stupid I think people are when it comes to love - how dumb it is to always be looking for the 'perfect' person or for someone better. But I will try, very hard, to stop typing now, becuase that's perfect as it is.

He smiled when he saw me and we could have built a life on that.

Odd Twist to My Day

I decided that I needed to work out again. For lent I added a fruit or veggie a day and now that it's over I wanted to find another way to keep up being healthy. If you know me at all, you know that being thin is a genetic dysfunction for me - in any other world mac n cheese for breakfast does not equal 112 pounds. I got lucky and it's time to live up to my jean size.

So I decided to dance again. I loved dancing when I was younger and as it happens there is a dance studio 100 ft from my apartment. I got all dressed and thought I'd just walk over - or I meant to. I got to the door and right next door was CrossFit Hollywood. It's not a gym - no bikes or weight machines - it's a cross training center and it looks like the kind of place giant men will kill small children. But there was a tiny blond girl outside and we started chatting and she turned out to be the trainer and convinced me to work out there instead when the next class started later in the evening.

Everything hurts - even my eyelid muscles hurt. I did 1/3 of what everyone else did and I almost passed out cold a few times. But my God are they supportive and helpful there - I looked like an 80 yr old woman and the girls in there could have crushed me with their thighs - but they all gave me high-fives when I finished. Who knew I could be press-up with a 35lb bar after 45 minutes of push-ups, sit ups, frog jumps, mountian climbers, rockers, handstand dips and squats? I felt like a badass.

When I can move my legs again I am totally going back.

A week off

I have a week off! This is my first week off in 2 months - I don't even know what to do with myself. Working at LA Film School was wonderful - you know I love my job when I happily get up at 6am to be at work at 7 Monday thru Friday.
I love working with film students and I finally have a group of people to hang out with that are around my age and think my obsession with movies and TV is perfectly normal.
With Silver Productions we did 3 music videos in 8 days last week. We drove to Laguna and back then 2 days later drove to San Diego and back and shot in LA for a few days. I had actresses and bands and extras emailing and calling me about wardrobe and makeup for 3 seperate shoots all at the same time.

So now I have time off - I went bowling with the LA Film crew, had Easter with my parents in Orange County, saw Ryan Wells at open mic and played a riduculous late-night apples to apples with him, Loren and Brent. Today I am having a girls day with Natalie taking pictures of LA tourist spots for my cousin's 2nd grade geography class. Tomorrow I'm not taking off my PJs.

I still don't understand why people my age don't live in LA. It's so funny to be in ‘the business’ and hang out with actors who are up for Pepto-Bismol commercials and are practicing their voice-over lines for the new Tinkerbell movie. I can IMDb my friends – so interesting.

Last night at open mic a girl in a long orange fiesta skirt played a dulcimer and sang about having a one night stand in the woods with a furry costume…… God I Love LA

Telephone

The Lady Gaga video is SO ODD - but SO AWESOME.

Yes, the video itself is overdone, overproduced, had NOTHING to do with the song and made almost no sense. However - she showed her vagina and had someone say "see I told you she didn't have a d*ck" - I almost feel over laughing.
Plus she used Diet Coke cans to curl her hair - I reeeeeeeaaaaaaaly want to do that. Who cares that the video is 9 minutes long - this is a girl who played a flaming piano - what did you expect?

I'm sick of perfect, bleach blond, autotuned girls in cookie-cutter clubbing videos with drugs and binge drinking. Go Gaga - be different - do whatever the hell you think is awesome - thank God for people who like themselves and aren't afraid to show everyone else.
