I was watching Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day this morning and heard the best line I've ever heard in a film. It's a cute movie about one day for a very poor woman in England just as the war is breaking out. She's had a very bad day - just been kicked out of her apartment with no clothes or effects and has not eating in several days. During an air raid drill a young woman Miss Pettigrew has just met that morning and is trying to help with her seriously bad taste in men is scared and asks her if she's ever been in love. She says
'He died in the mud in France. He was a steady man, a good man - the type you would call boring. But he smiled when he saw me and we could have built a life on that.'
I could type forever about how stupid I think people are when it comes to love - how dumb it is to always be looking for the 'perfect' person or for someone better. But I will try, very hard, to stop typing now, becuase that's perfect as it is.
He smiled when he saw me and we could have built a life on that.

Odd Twist to My Day
I decided that I needed to work out again. For lent I added a fruit or veggie a day and now that it's over I wanted to find another way to keep up being healthy. If you know me at all, you know that being thin is a genetic dysfunction for me - in any other world mac n cheese for breakfast does not equal 112 pounds. I got lucky and it's time to live up to my jean size.
So I decided to dance again. I loved dancing when I was younger and as it happens there is a dance studio 100 ft from my apartment. I got all dressed and thought I'd just walk over - or I meant to. I got to the door and right next door was CrossFit Hollywood. It's not a gym - no bikes or weight machines - it's a cross training center and it looks like the kind of place giant men will kill small children. But there was a tiny blond girl outside and we started chatting and she turned out to be the trainer and convinced me to work out there instead when the next class started later in the evening.
Everything hurts - even my eyelid muscles hurt. I did 1/3 of what everyone else did and I almost passed out cold a few times. But my God are they supportive and helpful there - I looked like an 80 yr old woman and the girls in there could have crushed me with their thighs - but they all gave me high-fives when I finished. Who knew I could be press-up with a 35lb bar after 45 minutes of push-ups, sit ups, frog jumps, mountian climbers, rockers, handstand dips and squats? I felt like a badass.
When I can move my legs again I am totally going back.

A week off
I have a week off! This is my first week off in 2 months - I don't even know what to do with myself. Working at LA Film School was wonderful - you know I love my job when I happily get up at 6am to be at work at 7 Monday thru Friday.
I love working with film students and I finally have a group of people to hang out with that are around my age and think my obsession with movies and TV is perfectly normal.
With Silver Productions we did 3 music videos in 8 days last week. We drove to Laguna and back then 2 days later drove to San Diego and back and shot in LA for a few days. I had actresses and bands and extras emailing and calling me about wardrobe and makeup for 3 seperate shoots all at the same time.
So now I have time off - I went bowling with the LA Film crew, had Easter with my parents in Orange County, saw Ryan Wells at open mic and played a riduculous late-night apples to apples with him, Loren and Brent. Today I am having a girls day with Natalie taking pictures of LA tourist spots for my cousin's 2nd grade geography class. Tomorrow I'm not taking off my PJs.
I still don't understand why people my age don't live in LA. It's so funny to be in ‘the business’ and hang out with actors who are up for Pepto-Bismol commercials and are practicing their voice-over lines for the new Tinkerbell movie. I can IMDb my friends – so interesting.
Last night at open mic a girl in a long orange fiesta skirt played a dulcimer and sang about having a one night stand in the woods with a furry costume…… God I Love LA
